MATTIA FRANCESCO BADO

Dr. Mattia Francesco Bado is an Assistant Professor at UPC-BarcelonaTech. He earned a Ph.D. degree in Construction Engineering from UPC-BarcelonaTech and a second separate Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Vilnius Tech in 2021.

His research focuses on Infrastructure Management and Structural Health Monitoring of new and existing infrastructure. He works on the assessment of structural health, reliability, operational decision-making and sustainability of structures and infrastructures. His skills span across the instrumentation and monitoring of structures through cutting edge sensing systems –such as Distributed Optical Fiber Sensors–; the visual inspection of highway infrastructure; the development and operation of Decision Support System for the optimization of the structural management practice; and the assessment of the environmental sustainability of both maintenance operations and entire assets. He has participated in over 10 research and Knowledge Transfer projects across several European countries.
