LARISA GARCIA-RAMONDA ESTEVEZ

Dr Larisa Garcia-Ramonda is an Assistant Professor at UPC-BarcelonaTech.

She is a Civil Engineer from the National University of Rosario (UNR) of Argentina and holds a joint Erasmus Mundus MSc on the Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions (SAHC) from University of Padova and UPC-BarcelonaTech. She earned her PhD in Construction Engineering from UPC-BarcelonaTech in 2020. She has collaborated with different international research groups, including a research stage at ETH Zurich (2022-2023).

Her research activity is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach, integrating experimental techniques with computational modelling in the field of structural and construction engineering. Her main interests include the seismic assessment and retrofit of existing masonry structures using innovative strengthening solutions such as textile-reinforced mortars (TRM), fibre-reinforced cementitious matrices (FRCM), and composite-reinforced masonry (CRM). She also specializes in numerical modelling, structural health monitoring (SHM), and damage detection through data-driven models, combining experimental testing and digital image correlation to analyse damage propagation. Her work places a particular emphasis on the structural assessment of historical buildings, especially in historical urban centres and aging infrastructure. She has participated in three national research projects and several RDT project.
